Harry Connick Jr. - Other Hours

To lighten this blog just a bit today, I thought I would recommend a great CD I bought for my wife this Christmas. We are fans of Connick's big band and vocal work, and so I was surprised to find this CD to be such a high quality departure for him. The entire CD is combo jazz (him on piano, drums, bass, sax) and no vocal work at all. Connick shines with his compositions and improv work. There are still hints of Thelonious Monk in his playing, but he branches out a bit on this CD.

If you enjoy good combo jazz, this would be a great aquisition.
